Meaney's rest is a fully spacious 3 bedroom, self-contained cottage that was built in 1883 and has been recently fully restored. It now offers the luxury of all modern amenities combined with the charm of yesteryear.

The polished Baltic pine and solid Jarrah floors set against the spectacular local sandstone walls boasts the perfect atmosphere for a romantic weekend away.

Meaney's Rest is also a perfect location for just a quick stop over or an ideal base from which to explore the many attractions and natural beauty of the Flinders Ranges, including the breathtaking peaks of Wilpena Pound, the highest mountain in the Flinders Ranges (Saint Mary Peak), the rich Aboriginal Heritage, the old Ghan railway history, the many wild flowers and a host of native fauna.

Located in the heart of Hawker, Meaney's rest is within close proximity to the local shops, Hotel, pool, scenic walks, and Jeff Morgan Gallery which features a full panorama painting of Wilpena pound.

Booking the accommodation was very easy and we got exactly what was advertised. House was easy to find and very well equipped for all needs. Would have liked to have had better heating in living area. It was efficient but very noisy. Each bedroom had new heating/cooling which was very quiet. Beds very comfortable and beautiful linen and doonas. House is very comfortably furnished and I would recommend it to couples or families.

We stayed here for three nights whilst making day trips around the Flinder's Ranges. Large house to accommodate groups. We used two rooms. Well appointed kitchen and bathroom with spa. Split systems in the bedrooms and electric blankets. Very comfortable sleep each night.

The house has everything you could want for a short or long stay. We had to cut our stay short by one day because South Australia was experiencing record storms and power cuts, but we'd definitely stay there again.  Immaculately clean with some lovely, personal touches - like the juke box and teddy bears in one of the bedrooms. Lovely living room and verandah along front and side of house. Perfect for touring the Flinders Ranges, the property has everything you could want. The beds are wonderfully comfortable and it's located near all the facilities in Hawker - bearing in mind that Hawker is a very small town! When we arrived there was no power (anywhere in the state!) but Phil, one of the owners, provided us with industrial strength torches. We had to cut our stay short because of the possibility of not being able to get back to Adelaide due to storms and potential floods but we will definitely stay there again next time we head for the Flinders.
